Leukemia
Leukemia
is a cancer of the developing blood cells in the bone marrow.
Leukemia leads to rampant overproduction of white blood cells
(leukocytes), symptoms usually include anemia, fever, enlarged
liver, spleen or lymph nodes.
The exact
cause of leukemia is unknown, as with other cancers, smoking is
considered a risk factor for leukemia, but many people who
develop leukemia have never smoked, and many people who smoke
never develop leukemia.
